See you at the Annual Conference!

Issue January 2004

I hope the holiday season treated all of you well. While you were putting the finishing touches on those holiday celebrations and gifts, the MBA staff was working feverishly to put the finishing touches on this year's Annual Conference to make it the best ever.

I have already written about various aspects of the conference, but there are a couple more highlights I want to bring to your attention. While attending the programs at the conference please make sure to stop in the new MBA Members Room. Among the activities taking place there will be demonstrations of the numerous new features of Casemaker (described in detail in this edition of Lawyers Journal). Experienced law librarians will be on hand to walk you through the improvements to Casemaker.

Trainers from CompuWorks, our affinity partner in computer training, also will be there to conduct one-on-one coaching for you on any questions you may have about your computer programs. If you have not yet met them or taken one of their classes, let me just tell you what a great job CompuWorks trainers do explaining these things so that we can all understand them.

I also hope you will join us for the Gala Dinner. Both the reception and dinner offer a wonderful opportunity for you to network and meet new colleagues and visit with old friends. Our keynote speaker, Marian Wright Edelman, promises to be a real inspiration to all of us. And don't forget, we will once again be raffling off some great prizes, items such as two nights at the Nantucket Inn and tickets to Disney's THE LION KING and to the Celtics or Bruins.

MBA fun

Speaking of the theater, we still have a few more tickets to Disney's THE LION KING for the nights of Sept. 8 and 21, 2004. They are being sold for $125 per ticket. These seats are located in the orchestra section of the Opera House and include a pre-theatre reception at the nearby Hyatt Hotel.

And while we're on the subject of fun, watch for news shortly about our Celtics night and our golf tournament.

New insurance provider

In a very different vein, I want to be sure you are aware that as of Jan. 1, 2004, the MBA is partnering with CNA for its professional liability program. The MBA and the MBA Insurance Agency have partnered with CNA because we believe CNA provides you with an excellent policy, continued access to competitive rates and an outstanding value for your premium dollar.

CNA recognizes the uniqueness of your individual practice in Massachusetts. Working closely with the MBA's Insurance Committee, which has put in a tremendous effort on your behalf, CNA has responded with a policy that we are confident you will agree is excellent.

Over the next several weeks, we will bring you a great deal of additional information about this new relationship. In the interim, please feel free to contact the Insurance Agency directly.

I hope to see lots of you later this month at the conference!
