The Massachusetts Bar Foundation will hold its Annual Meeting on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007. The meeting will be held at the John Adams Courthouse in Boston and will begin at 5:30 p.m.
The MBF is pleased to announce that the 2007 Great Friend of Justice award recipient and Keynote Speaker will be Anthony Lewis. Lewis is a Pulitzer Prize-winning legal journalist and author of Gideon's Trumpet, a book which chronicled Clarence Gideon's fight to be appointed counsel at the expense of the state. This landmark case led to the Supreme Court decision that extended this right to all criminal defendants.
The Foundation is also pleased to announce that this year's grantee speaker will be 2005 MBF Legal Intern Fellow Lindy Aldrich. As the Legal Intern Fellowship Program celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, Aldrich will touch upon her experiences as a Legal Intern Fellow and the impact that the MBF has had on her career path.
The Annual Meeting will also serve as a forum to report on the activities of the year, recognize new Fellows and new Life Fellows, and elect officers and trustees for the coming year.
A cocktail reception will immediately follow the meeting. Formal invitations will be mailed in early January.
