
Judge the National Mock Trial Competition (Boston Regional)
From Feb. 6 through Feb. 9, Boston College School of Law and New England Law | Boston will be hosting the National Trial Competition, co-sponsored by the Texas Young Lawyers Association and the American College of Trial Lawyers. To make the event a success, organizers are seeking volunteers from the legal profession to act as scoring judges.
WHAT: Started 50 years ago, the National Trial Competition is the most successful and longest-running competition in the nation. The Boston regional will feature 11 law schools from New England, and the students will be litigating a civil case.
WHERE: All rounds will be held at the Middlesex Superior Court, located at 200 Tradecenter Dr., Woburn. Ample free parking is available on site.
WHEN:
Round 1: Thursday, Feb. 6, 5:30-8:30 p.m.
Round 2: Friday, Feb. 7, 5:30-8:30 p.m.
Round 3: Saturday, Feb. 8, 8:30 a.m.-noon
Semi-Final: Saturday, Feb. 9, 1:30-4:30 p.m.

CM/ECF to be offline over holiday weekend
The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Massachusetts has announced that the Case Management/Electronic Case Filing System (CM/ECF) will be unavailable from Friday, Jan. 17, at 5 p.m., until approximately 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, while the court performs multiple system upgrades.
During the dates when CM/ECF is unavailable, fax filings will not be accepted. Urgent filings may be submitted by email at filings@mab.uscourts.gov. The emails will not be processed until Tuesday due to the holiday weekend. For any filings requiring the payment of a fee that are filed via email, the court will issue a notice of fees due.
For emergency filings only, parties may contact the Clerk’s Office by calling (617) 748-5317. Parties who call between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. are unlikely to reach a live operator. They are asked to leave a message and expect a return call before 8 a.m.

Superior Court research attorney positions
The Massachusetts Superior Court is seeking to fill three research attorney I positions to be based primarily in Boston, Worcester or Fall River/New Bedford. The research attorney position is a professional, permanent position within the Administrative Office of the Superior Court (AOSC).
Research attorneys assist the justices of the Superior Court by preparing draft decisions, legal research memoranda and other documents; researching and analyzing specific legal issues; and providing other valuable assistance to the justices or the AOSC as needed.
Requirements include a minimum of two years of legal experience, with excellent writing, communication and legal research skills. Judicial clerkship and/or extensive experience involving a high volume of legal research and writing in the litigation context is preferred. Research attorneys must reside in Massachusetts for the duration of their employment and be able to travel to Superior Court courthouses throughout the commonwealth as needed.
