2018 Health Law Symposium focuses on mental health

2018HealthLawSymposiumA strong turnout of legal and medical professionals gathered at the MBA on March 16 for the 2018 Health Law Symposium, which this year focused on mental health. 

Among several featured speakers was Debra Legett, Esq., deputy general counsel and director of privacy access for the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health, who discussed the confidentiality of mental health and substance abuse information. 

Other topics covered during the all-day event included mental health parity, mental health provider misconduct and ethical issues in representing clients with mental health issues. In addition to the Department of Mental Health, panelists represented private law firms, Boston-area universities, state courts and hospitals, and health advocacy organizations, among others.
