Criminal Justice Section Council screens “Interrogate This” documentary at MBA

Issue December/January 2008

The Criminal Justice Section hosted filmmaker and forensic psychologist Maryanne Galvin’s latest documentary film, “Interrogate This: Psychologists Take on Terror,” on Dec. 9 at the MBA’s Boston offices. The film, about psychologists’ role in interrogating political detainees, was followed by a panel discussion.

In addition to Galvin, the panel included: Bingham McCutcheon attorney Sabin Willett, whose pro bono work in Guantanamo Bay led to the release of three detainees; Dr. Carrie Kennedy, a naval psychologist formerly stationed at Guantanamo; and lawyer and psychologist Robert Kinscherff, a member of the Committee on Legal Issues of the American Psychological Association and recent past chair of the Ethics Committee and current director of Clinical Services for Easter Seals, New Hampshire; and Nancy Murray, director of education for the American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts.

The program was moderated by John P. Zanini, chief of the Appellate Division in the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, and was co-sponsored by the Criminal Justice, Immigration Law and Individual Rights and Responsibilities Sections and Young Lawyers Division.
