The American Library Association Office for Intellectual Freedom is building a nationwide network of lawyers committed to upholding the First Amendment and the freedom to read in libraries throughout the country. The project, called Lawyers for Librarians, will host a regional training institute in Boston May 6-7 at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel & Towers, 64 Arlington St.
The Massachusetts Library Association is looking for several lawyers to attend the institute, which will include several sessions including The Library as a Public Forum, Unprotected Speech, Minimizing Liability, Privacy and Confidentiality and Librarians Panel: Real Challenges and Practical Strategies.
