MBA Officers 2007-08

MBA President David W. White Jr. and his fellow MBA officers are set to begin the new association year. The officers and the full 2007-08 MBA House of Delegates will convene for the first time on Sept. 19 at the DCU Center in Worcester. 

David W. White Jr., President
Breakstone, White & Gluck PC, Boston

White is a principal in the firm of Breakstone, White & Gluck PC in Boston. His practice concentrates in personal injury, insurance company bad faith, medical malpractice and professional liability litigation. White joined the MBA in 1986 and has been a dedicated leader for many years. He is a former chair of the Civil Litigation Section Council and the Law Practice Management Section Council, and chaired both the 2005 and 2006 MBA Annual Dinner committees. He also served on the Joint Bar Committee, the Governance Task Force and co-chaired the Anniversary Fee Task Force. White was chosen as a “Super Lawyer” in the field of plaintiff’s personal injury law by Boston magazine in 2004, 2005 and 2006. He has served on the Massachusetts Task Force on Human Subject Research, and on the Fernald State School Human Rights Committee. White also advocates for and participates in land preservation projects in his home community of Westwood.


Edward W. McIntyre, President-elect
McIntyre Law Offices, Clinton

McIntyre is a solo practitioner concentrating in civil litigation in state and federal courts and is an expert in spinal cord and brain injury law. A member of the House of Delegates since 1998, McIntyre has served the MBA in many capacities. He has served as both chair and vice chair of the Judicial Administration Section Council. He has sat on the President’s Task Force on Judicial Evaluations and the MBA’s ABA Nominating Committee. McIntyre has also chaired the MBA’s Judicial Performance Evaluation Standing Committee since 2004. He is a former recipient of the MBA’s Community Service Award and a fellow of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation. McIntyre is also a past president of the Worcester County Bar Association and remains active in that association. He lives and practices in Clinton.


Robert F. Lucas, Vice President
Nigro, Pettepit & Lucas LLP, Wakefield

Lucas is a senior partner with Nigro, Pettepit & Lucas LLP, a Wakefield firm, where he practices general law. A leader in the MBA for many years, Lucas has served on 14 MBA committees and boards, and chaired three of those. He has served on the MBA’s Executive Committee and Executive Management Board and has sat on the House of Delegates as a regional delegate and delegate-at-large. He has received the MBA Community Service Award and the Membership Recruitment Award. He is a past president of the First District Eastern Middlesex Bar Association, and stays highly involved in community service in and around his home community of Melrose.


Denise Squillante, Vice President
Denise Squillante PC, Attorney at Law, Fall River

Squillante is a solo practitioner engaged in general, private practice in Fall River, where she concentrates on family law, corporate law, injury and estates. Long active in the MBA’s Family Law Section Council and its associated committees, Squillante has also lent her energy to the MBA’s Presidential Task Force on Terrorism, the Amicus Committee and the Joint Bar Committee. She is a former recipient of the MBA’s Pro Bono Publico Award, a longtime member of the House of Delegates and a Massachusetts Bar Foundation fellow. This past year, she was instrumental in establishing the MBA’s new General Practice, Solo & Small Firm Section Council, as well as leading MBA efforts to assist lawyers in transition. She is a member of the Bristol County Bar Association Executive Board and former president of the Fall River Bar Association. Squillante is also involved in Fall River with efforts to address issues of domestic violence. Through her service in numerous civic and professional organizations, she has strengthened her community and the bar’s commitment to equality and access to justice.


Valerie A. Yarashus, Treasurer
Sugarman & Sugarman PC, Boston

Yarashus is a principal in the firm of Sugarman & Sugarman PC in Boston, where she concentrates on plaintiff’s trial practice and general liability. A longtime participant and leader in the bar association community, she has contributed her time and expertise to the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and the MBA. In 2005 and 2006, she was recognized by Boston magazine, in conjunction with Law and Politics, as one of the top 50 female attorneys in Massachusetts and as a “Super Lawyer” in the area of personal injury law. Yarashus has been listed in the 2004–07 editions of Best Lawyers in America and was inducted into the Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly Up-and-Coming Lawyers Hall of Fame in 2006. At the MBA, she has served on the Civil Litigation Section Council, chaired the Health Law Section Council and been a member of the MBA House of Delegates. She spearheaded the MBA’s Task Force on Diversity in 2005-06 and continues to chair the task force which works to increase diversity in the law profession and encourage young, minority students to consider legal careers. She lives in Holliston.


Robert L. Holloway Jr., Secretary
MacLean, Holloway, Doherty, Ardiff & Morse PC, Peabody

Holloway is shareholder and president of MacLean, Holloway, Doherty, Ardiff & Morse PC in Peabody, where he resolves complex litigation matters for business and individual clients. He is a long-term member of the Massachusetts Bar Association Ethics Committee, a member and past chair of the MBA’s Civil Litigation Section Council and a former regional delegate to the MBA House of Delegates. In addition, Holloway received the MBA’s Community Service Award in 1993 and has served on the Joint Bar Committee on Judicial Nominations for six years. Holloway is a long-term member of the Massachusetts Bar Association Ethics Committee, as well as a member and past chair of the MBA’s Civil Litigation Section Council. He was a founding member of Hospice of the North Shore and served for many years as a corporator of Beverly Hospital. Holloway is an emeritus member of the editorial board of Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly and also volunteers to judge moot court at Boston University School of Law and Harvard Law School. He lives in Topsfield.
