Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott, LLC has elected Stephen R. Delinsky to its board of directors for a three-year term. Delinsky practices white-collar criminal defense in the firm's Boston office.

 

Vikas S. Dhar has become associated as a partner with Denner O'Malley, LLP, a litigation boutique in downtown Boston, working primarily in the area of white-collar defense. He also will handle civil disciplinary and regulatory/licensing matters as well as complex business and domestic relations cases.

Dhar formerly was an associate in a Boston firm focusing on criminal defense and immigration. Prior to obtaining his J.D., he worked at the Illinois Institute of Government and Public Affairs and served on the 2001 Governor's Commission for Revision of the Illinois School Code.

Dhar is active in the community as a member of the India Association of Greater Boston and is involved in the Russian Community Association of Massachusetts. He serves on the Board of Directors of the South Asian Bar Association and is a 2004-05 Section Review editor for the Massachusetts Bar Association.

 

Paula H. Noe of the Law Offices of Paula H. Noe, Brookline, has just been elected to the presidency of the Massachusetts Collaborative Law Council. She is a founding member of the council and focuses her practice on resolution of family matters.

Noe also teaches collaborative law under the auspices of the council to other attorneys and to individuals looking for dispute resolution without litigation and with dignity.

 

The Volunteer Lawyers Project of the Boston Bar Association has awarded the Denis Maguire Pro Bono Award to Bingham McCutchen associate Rachael Splaine Rollins for her work in supervising summer associates in unemployment cases before the Massachusetts Division of Unemployment Assistance.

Rollins was selected from approximately 800 attorneys and paralegals who take on pro bono cases in a broad range of substantive areas, such as unemployment, housing, family, consumer, public benefits and probate.

Chosen for her hands-on role in overseeing Bingham McCutchen summer associates who elect to represent individuals at the DUA, Rollins has been supervising these cases for the past three years. Rollins is an associate in the litigation area where she primarily handles labor and employment matters. She also serves on the firm's hiring committee.

 

Brown Rudnick Charitable Foundation Corp., a nonprofit, tax-exempt entity established by attorneys from Brown Rudnick Berlack Israels LLP, awarded three of its Insight/Foresight Grants to The William Monroe Trotter Elementary School (Boston), Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art (Hartford) and Breakthrough Magnet School (Hartford). The program provides funding to assist educators with small, concrete projects or needs, which will make an improvement in inner city education in Boston, Hartford, Providence or New York within the coming year.

 

Steven B. Rosenthal has opened a second office, which is located at 369 Court St. in Brockton. He also will maintain his current office at 15 Broad St., Suite 305 in Boston. Rosenthal concentrates his practice on personal injury and general business litigation, real estate and probate.

 

Charmoy, Stolzberg and Holian, a Boston-based law firm, announced that it has opened the first American law office in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, China. With a population of 73 million, Jiangsu is the second largest province in China in terms of GDP. The city of Suzhou, located approximately 50 miles west of Shanghai, has a population of nearly 6 million.

The chief representative for the office is Robert Stolzberg, who is a partner in the law firm's Boston waterfront offices. Stolzberg has more than 35 years of experience representing a broad range of individuals and corporations before state and federal trial courts, appellate courts and administrative agencies. Since first visiting China in 1986, he has returned multiple times and has lectured at the law school in Xian, China.

Also representing the law firm is Wei Jia, a graduate of the Xian Law School in China as well as the law schools of Tulane in New Orleans and Suffolk University in Boston. Jia is the author of Chinese Foreign Investment Laws and Policies. He has practiced law in both United States and China for 16 years. His practice concentrates on business law, immigration law and international transactions.
