SJC seeks comment on proposed name change for Board of Bar Overseers

The Supreme Judicial Court is soliciting public comment on a proposal from the Board of Bar Overseers to change its name from the Board of Bar Overseers to the Board of Bar Oversight. The new title would allow for continued use of the abbreviation BBO.

The Board of Bar Overseers’ explanation for the proposed retitling is included in its proposal. A new title would require revisions to Rule 4:01, which creates the Board of Bar Overseers, as well as to various court rules that refer to the Board of Bar Overseers. The proposed revisions to SJC Rule 4:01 are available here.

Comments should be directed to Christine P. Burak, Supreme Judicial Court, John Adams Courthouse, One Pemberton Square, Boston, MA  02108 on or before April 19. Comments may also be emailed to christine.burak@jud.state.ma.us. Comments received will be made available to the public.
