Matthew A. Kane and
Payal Salsburg, both members of the Massachusetts Bar Association, served as faculty for Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education’s 10th Annual Appellate Practice Conference on Dec. 5. Kane spoke about a number of issues peculiar in civil matters. Salsburg was conference co-chair and spoke to the newest appellate judges in Massachusetts about their backgrounds and advice for practitioners appearing before them.

Kane is a member of the firm's management team and is the incoming managing partner effective Jan. 1, 2025. As a business litigation attorney, he focuses on business and commercial law, representing banks, financial institutions, businesses and individuals.
Salsburg is a member of the firm’s management team. As a business and litigation attorney, she focuses her practice in the areas of business litigation, corporate advice and counsel, and white-collar criminal defense.

Morgan, Brown & Joy partner
James M. Pender, a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, was a featured speaker at the Massachusetts Council of School Attorneys’ Dec. 13 annual meeting and program on Emerging Issues in Education Law 2024. Pender presented, “Recent Case Law on First Amendment Issues in Public Schools,” which provided an analysis of recent rulings from the Massachusetts federal district court and First Circuit Court of Appeals and how they may set the stage for future Supreme Court review.
Pender provides labor and employment law advice and litigates matters on behalf of public- and private-sector employers. Much of his practice involves providing legal advice and guidance to clients regarding both union and non-union personnel to help employers navigate the often-complicated array of federal and state laws and regulations affecting employment.
