The justices of the Supreme Judicial Court invite applications for appointment to the Board of Bar Examiners. There is one vacancy to fill the remainder of the term of a member who has resigned from the board. This term will end on Oct. 1, 2019, at which time the new member would be eligible for reappointment for a full five-year term.
The justices seek applications from experienced lawyers who have been members of the Massachusetts bar in good standing for a substantial number of years.
Under G.L. c. 221, § § 35 and 36, the justices appoint the five-member board to consider issues relating to examinations for admission to the bar and the qualifications for applicants. At least four members of the board must reside in different counties. Therefore, at this time, residents of Essex, Middlesex and Norfolk counties are not eligible for this vacancy.
Letters and one-page resumes should be submitted by April 20 to Mona Hochberg at the Supreme Judicial Court, John Adams Courthouse, One Pemberton Sq., Boston, MA 02108 or Mona.Hochberg@jud.state.ma.us.
