Your rights when buying a car

Harnais

"If they can't rectify the problem and they want to resolve the issue, they have to buy back the car. They have to pay for the insurance you paid, all your reasonable expenses, all your costs."

MBA President-elect Robert W. Harnais, WHDH TV (Channel 7), October 23

Harnais provided his analysis for "Solve it 7" which aims to address problems faced by consumers and local residents. In this featured case, a woman attempted to get her money back after purchasing a car with pre-existing damage from a Dorchester dealership. According to Harnais, once the necessary parts are received, a repair shop or dealership has 10 days to get the car fixed and back to the owner.

Youth defense in Tsarnaev case

Elikann

"The juries seem to believe that while these may be young, impressionable men, they still should take responsibility for their actions."

MBA Criminal Justice Section Vice Chair Peter Elikann, Boston Herald, October 29

Elikann was quoted in a Herald column about the defense of Robel Phillipos, who was found guilty this week on two counts of lying to authorities investigating last year's Boston Marathon bombings. Phillipos and Azamat Tazhayakov, both friends of Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, have now been found guilty of lying to investigators.
