The Massachusetts Bar Association held its first House of Delegates meeting of the 2008-09 association year on Sept. 18 at Mechanics Hall in Worcester.
HOD elected its new vice president, Marsha V. Kazarosian (see related story on page 1) and its Executive Management Board.
The newest MBA officers gave HOD an overview of their hopes for the year, and an update on the association as a whole, including:
MBA President Edward W. McIntyre and President-elect Valerie A. Yarashus spoke about their desire to collaborate toward the common goals of creating new leaders and building a strong future.
MBA Treasurer Denise Squillante said membership is at approximately the same place this year as it was last year. She urged members to consider becoming sustaining members.
MBA Secretary Douglas K. Sheff presented the minutes from the May 14, 2008, HOD meeting, which were approved.
MBA General Counsel Martin W. Healy encouraged HOD to remain active as legislation is discussed over the coming year. He warned that the $1.3 billion state deficit and the struggling economy may lead to cuts in the court system.
