Moving for change

The Hampshire County Bar Association held its fifth annual Move for Change fundraiser, a 5k run/1.5 mi. walk, in May. In recognition of the 50th anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education, this year's Law Day theme, all proceeds from the Move for Change event were donated to local organizations that support and enhance education opportunities in the public school systems of Hampshire County. Nearly $8,000 was raised.

Amherst Area Education Alliance, Easthampton Learning Foundation, Excellence in Teaching (South Hadley), Hatfield Education Foundation and Northampton Education Foundation are this year's recipients.

More than 150 people participated in the event, in addition to support from cosponsors Massachusetts Bar Association, Easthampton Savings Bank, Finck & Perras Insurance Agency, Northampton Area Pediatrics, Northampton Cooperative Bank, Northampton Police Relief Association, Peoples Bank, Sun Life Financial, Bresnahan Insurance Agency, Easthampton Police Association, Florence Savings Bank, The Bank of Western Massachusetts and Fierst, Pucci & Kinder, LLP.
