Thursday, Jun. 16, 2016

The Board of Bar Overseers is warning the legal community about an email scam targeting various bars and bar members around the country. The deceptive emails have the potential to corrupt computer files. While the BBO is unaware of these attacks occurring in Massachusetts, the fraudulent email being distributed may have a subject line such as Massachusetts bar complaint or Massachusetts bar past due invoice. Please monitor all unexpected emails because other bars and bar members have received these notices.

If you receive one of these fraudulent emails, DO NOT respond or click on any attachments. Delete it immediately and call the BBO at (617) 728-8767, if you have received or suspect that you have received a fraudulent email.
