Training Workshop for Opioid-related

Case Workers’ Compensation Diversion Program

Sponsored by the MBA’s Worker’s Compensation Session

 Massachusetts is one of the first states to launch a groundbreaking program for workers’ compensation cases involving long-term opioid use which offers viable alternatives to fight the opiod epidemic.

The MBA’s Worker’s Compensation Section invites you to attend is a training session on February 8, 2017 from 3-5 p.m.  The training will include:

         Discussion of opioid epidemic and its impact on the DIA

         Overview of the voluntary two-year pilot program

         Discussion of the types of cases suitable for the program

         The new DIA forms and their implementation

         Explanation of the “fast-track” court proceeding

         The role of care coordinators, insurers, attorneys, medical providers, and injured workers

         Question and Answer session

 The Guest Speakers will be Senior Judge Omar Hernandez, Department of Industrial Accidents and Dr. Michael Erdil, Occupational and Environmental Health Network.
