Crimmigration refers to the intersection of two bodies of law: criminal and immigration. This symposium will consider current challenges faced by practitioners and their clients, including the effectiveness of plea negotiations, the immigration consequences of inexpert criminal representation, and the best practices for legal practitioners navigating the crimmigration field.
Expert panelists, including defense counsel and representatives of the judicial and legislative branches, will lead a nuanced discussion of what it means to work in the legal field with foreign national clients.
