The House of Representatives passed its budget on April 25. The $40.3 billion spending package included an additional $2 million for the Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation (MLAC), bringing House funding for MLAC to $20 million for FY18.

An amendment filed by Rep. Ruth Balser (D-Newton) helped secure an additional $500,000 for legal services over the additional $1.5 million contained in the House Ways and Means recommendation. The Senate will debate its version of the budget next month.
