The Massachusetts Bar Association is committed to safeguarding the health and well-being of its members at all its programs and events. In response to Gov. Charlie Baker’s declaration of a state of emergency in Massachusetts over the coronavirus (COVID-19), and out of an abundance of caution, the MBA has suspended all in-person programs through May 1

The following programs are canceled indefinitely:

  • All section conferences and CLEs (Refunds will be issued in a timely fashion)
  • March 12 Bench-Bar Program on Civility
  • March 18 House of Delegates meeting
  • April 8 Leadership Academy training session
  • April 22 Dine-Around Program
  • April 29 Bench-Bar Program on Civility

In addition, all remaining MBA meetings through May 1, including section council, committee and practice group meetings, will be conducted remotely or via conference-call-only. Staff members are working with the appropriate section leaders to coordinate scheduling and conference calls. Any section members with questions about their section’s meetings should reach out to Heather Robertson

The High School Mock Trial Competition, including the trials scheduled for March 12 and the Final on March 20, has been postponed indefinitely. MBA Mock Trial staff will be in touch with all schools and participants.

As the situation evolves, the MBA will continue to monitor recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as state and local health officials, to determine whether additional measures, including further cancellations, are warranted. Visit www.massbar.org/COVID-19 for up-to-date information on our programming changes.

The health and safety of our members is our first priority. We appreciate your patience and encourage everyone to follow the advice from the CDC about how to minimize the spread of the virus.
