This program will help practitioners learn the basics of litigating cases under the federal civil rights statute (Section 1983) and under the Massachusetts Civil Rights Act. It will cover pleadings; theories of recovery; affirmative defenses, including qualified immunity; and individual, supervisory and municipal claims. It will go over discovery, evidentiary issues, dispositive motions and trial. The program will include a distinguished panel of speakers and federal judges from the United States District Court (District of Massachusetts, Springfield).

Members of the Federal Bar Association and the Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden, Hampshire, and Worcester county bar associations enjoy the program for only $25.
