The 2017 Banking Law Update will provide a review of the past year and a preview of the coming year's anticipated developments in the areas of banking and financial services law and regulation, financial consumer protection and compliance, mergers and acquisitions, and litigation.

The new Massachusetts Commissioner of Banks, Hon. Terence A. McGinnis, will be the kick-off speaker at the program.

Commissioner McGinnis will comment on the transition from service as in-house general counsel to Eastern Bank, Massachusetts' largest and oldest mutual banking institution, to service as the chief financial institutions regulator in the commonwealth.

Other confirmed speakers are Stanley Ragalevsky, Esq., partner, K&L Gates; William P. Mayer, Esq., partner, Goodwin LLP; and Samantha Kirby, Esq., Goodwin LLP.

Attorney Ragalevsky will discuss developments and transactions involving mutual banking institutions in Massachusetts. Attorney Mayer will discuss financial regulatory and transactional developments affecting Massachusetts financial institutions, generally. Attorney Kirby will discuss M&A and transactional developments involving New England financial institutions, with a particular focus on publicly traded and stock banks, thrifts, and thrift holding companies.
