The 2017 Banking Law Update will provide a review of the
past year and a preview of the coming year's anticipated developments in the
areas of banking and financial services law and regulation, financial consumer
protection and compliance, mergers and acquisitions, and litigation.
The new Massachusetts Commissioner of Banks, Hon.
Terence A. McGinnis, will be the kick-off speaker at the program.
Commissioner McGinnis will comment on the transition from service as in-house
general counsel to Eastern Bank, Massachusetts' largest and oldest mutual
banking institution, to service as the chief financial institutions regulator in
the commonwealth.
Other confirmed speakers are Stanley Ragalevsky, Esq., partner, K&L
Gates; William P. Mayer, Esq., partner, Goodwin LLP; and Samantha Kirby, Esq.,
Goodwin LLP.
Attorney
Ragalevsky will discuss developments and transactions involving mutual
banking institutions in Massachusetts. Attorney
Mayer will discuss financial regulatory and transactional developments
affecting Massachusetts financial institutions, generally. Attorney
Kirby will discuss M&A and transactional developments involving New
England financial institutions, with a particular focus on publicly traded and
stock banks, thrifts, and thrift holding companies.
