This program will feature two former United States Attorneys from the Obama administration. Brendan V. Johnson, former U.S. Attorney for the District of South Dakota, and Timothy Q. Purdon, former U.S. Attorney for the District of North Dakota, served for years on Attorney General Eric Holder’s select U.S. Attorney Advisory Committee. This committee helped shape policy at the Department of Justice (DOJ). Johnson and Purdon will share their views on how decisions get made at the DOJ.

The presentation will include a discussion of common mistakes white-collar defense attorneys and corporate counsels make in dealing with the DOJ, the creative arguments that actually persuaded the decision makers at the DOJ, and the thinking behind the DOJ’s recent high profile actions on criminal  justice reform, marijuana enforcement and public safety in Indian Country. Learn about the people and policies that drove the DOJ’s decisions in the Obama administration.

The program will be followed by a networking reception for all attendees and members of the panel.
