The theme of this year’s Eighth Annual In-House Counsel Conference is “Doing
Business in the Electronic Age.” The conference will focus on the special legal
challenges, including privacy, confidentiality and IP preservation concerns,
that confront in-house counsel as a result of new electronic communication
methods and recordkeeping requirements. Panel discussions are planned on a
variety of topics including special litigation issues; data management including
management of privacy breaches and record retention; legal issues presented by
the use of on-line social networks and cloud computing; and protection of trade
secrets.
Among other topics, the conference will address:
- The importance of company policies with respect to blogging and social
media;
- Data privacy protection issues that must be managed;
- What should happen when there is a privacy breach;
- Issues with regard to processing and management of data from the EU;
- Challenges presented by e-discovery and other special litigation issues;
- How to manage the protection of trade secrets in light of the use of
social media and other tools for collaboration and development; and
- Special legal risks presented by cloud computing.
