The Massachusetts Bar Association's 30th Annual Statewide High
School Mock Trial Program kicked off on Monday, Nov. 3, with its
Teachers' Orientation.
The MBA's Mock Trial Program provides high school students with a
positive first experience with the law, as well as a valuable and
dynamic educational experience. The tournament begins at the end of
January and continues into March with a "Sweet 16" round,
culminating in the State Finals, which will be held on Friday,
March 27.
More than 135 teams statewide are expected to participate in this
year's tournament, which will focus on a criminal case concerning
Harry Kumar, a fictional man who was shot and killed. Students will
focus on whether the shooting was a criminal act, or if the
defendant was legally justified in pulling the trigger.
