Lawyers Journal publicizes the recent and upcoming events of its affiliated bar associations.

The Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association held its Annual Meeting and election of officers at the John Adams Courthouse on April 10. The newly elected officers of the MBLA are President Nikiki T. Bogle, President-Elect Damon Hart, Vice President Robert Cooper, Treasurer Angel Kelley and Secretary Douglas Martin. Other board members are immediate Past President Angela McConney and Malcolm Medley, Tonomey Coleman and Donald LaRoche.

The Bar Association of Norfolk County held its Law Day Celebration on May 1 at the Superior Court in Dedham. The speaker was the Hon. Judith Cowin. The bar association will hold its annual meeting at the Dedham Hilton on May 9.

The Hampshire/Hampden County Bar Associations' 3rd Annual Golf Challenge will take place on Wednesday, May 23 at The Ranch Golf Club in Southwick.

The Massachusetts Lesbian & Gay Bar Association will hold its 22nd Annual Meeting on Friday, May 11 at the Royal Sonesta, Cambridge. The keynote speaker will be the Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley. The Kevin Larkin Memorial Award for Public Service recipient is John N. Affuso Jr., former MLGBA co-chair and senior transactions counsel
for Massport. The Gwen Bloomingdale Pioneer Spirit Award recipient is Joyce Kauffman, also a former MLGBA co-chair and a family law practitioner in Cambridge.

The Massachusetts Bar Association and the MLGBA will present Pauline Quirion, senior attorney with Greater Boston
Legal Services, the MBA Community Service Award. The MLGBA will also present the inaugural Alexander G. Gray Jr. Scholarship Award at the dinner to a deserving area law student. The $1,000 scholarship was funded through donations made by MLGBA members.

The Essex County Bar Association will hold its Annual Dinner Meeting on Thursday, May 24, at the Salem Waterfront Hotel. The keynote speaker will be Chief Justice for Administration and Management Robert A. Mulligan. Cocktails are at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m.

Earlier that day, the Essex County Bar Association Annual Golf Tournament will be held at the Beverly Golf and Tennis Club. The shotgun start is at 1 p.m.
