The Massachusetts Bar Association’s Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) has gone live with a new user-friendly website that offers a cleaner look and easier navigation for individuals seeking legal assistance.

Members of the public can now access MassLawHelp.com using their cell phones, a change from the previous version of the website. The new website also simplifies the process of connecting with a lawyer by directing users to click on one of three buttons to call the LRS, complete an instant self-referral form, or request a referral from the LRS staff. When completing a self-referral form, visitors to the website will find descriptions of various legal practice areas to help them select the one most appropriate for their specific issue.

In addition to its main features, the new website more closely resembles the design of Massbar.org and provides a sleeker user experience with less overall text on the homepage.

The website launch coincides with the LRS’ 50th anniversary year as a public service of the MBA and an important member benefit for those in the legal profession. During its history of operation, the LRS has referred more than 500,000 people around the state to suitable attorneys in good standing with the Board of Bar Overseers and the MBA.

“At the LRS, we are thrilled to celebrate our 50th year of helping Massachusetts residents in their search for reputable legal representation,” said LRS Committee Chair Hon. Bonnie H. MacLeod (ret.), a 52-year member of the MBA who was involved in the original creation of the LRS. “Many people who need to consult with an attorney do not know where to begin, and we take great pride in easing that process and acting as a bridge between the public and the legal profession. Our 50th anniversary is a wonderful occasion to unveil a new website that will improve our ability to assist those who depend on our service.”
