  • "Debtor denied homestead exemption in ex-lover’s property," Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly (April 29). MBA member Eric D. Kornblum commented on a U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge's decision that a Chapter 7 debtor could not claim a homestead exemption for the sale proceeds of her former partner's home, even though she maintained that she had become an owner of the property through the creation of a resulting trust.

  • "BigLaw firm demands $4.3M in fee dispute with ex-client," Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly (April 29). MBA Ethics Committee member Alan E. Brown discussed a Boston law firm's breach-of-contract complaint alleging that a former client accrued $4.3 million in unpaid legal bills from a case that settled in 2019.
