At a press conference on Wednesday, March 13 (pictured), Governor Maura T. Healey announced that she is taking executive action to pardon misdemeanor marijuana possession convictions in Massachusetts, which the Massachusetts Bar Association is proud to support.
“Governor Healey’s proposal to pardon people convicted of simple marijuana possession is a necessary step to address past miscarriages of justice, especially given the disproportionate way that people of color were charged with marijuana crimes," said MBA President Damian J. Turco. "We’re pleased to see the governor continue to wield her clemency powers in the interests of fairness and justice.”
