Join the Massachusetts Bar Association at the 25th Walk to the Hill for Civil Legal Aid, which is returning in person to the Massachusetts State House for the first time since 2020. Walk to the Hill will begin at 11 a.m. in the Great Hall at the State House on Thursday, Jan. 25.
Walk to the Hill is an annual event that gathers attorneys, law students and advocates to urge their legislators to support civil legal aid by fully funding the Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation’s (MLAC) line-item request. For Fiscal Year 2025, MLAC is asking the Massachusetts state Legislature for $55 million to support 16 civil legal aid organizations across the commonwealth. The MBA is proud to again co-sponsor Walk to the Hill with the Equal Justice Coalition and the Boston Bar Association to advocate for increased funding for civil legal services throughout the commonwealth.

It’s easy!
Step 1
Think about why civil legal aid is important for individuals, families and communities across the commonwealth.
Download the I Walk… placard (or use any blank sheet of paper) and write your message on it.
Step 2
Have a friend or colleague take a photo and/or video of you holding your placard.
If you’re using a smartphone for video, please keep the length to around 5 seconds, make sure the phone is held vertically, and speak loudly and clearly. If you are taking a video of yourself, use your phone’s front-facing camera.
Step 3
Share your photo and/or video on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn tagging the EJC and using the hashtag
#IWalkForJustice. Don’t use social media? Not a problem— email your content to
social@mlac.org.
(Please email the EJC all videos — they may use them in a compilation post!)
