Save the date: Using ‘Harm Reduction’ to address opioid epidemic in court, Nov. 30

The Massachusetts Bar Association is proud to partner with HEALing Communities Study Massachusetts and Bay State Community Services to present a program on Nov. 30, at 5:30 p.m. at Granite Links in Quincy: Addressing the Opioid Epidemic in Our Courts and Communities —  Applying the Science-based "Harm Reduction" Approach.

The program, offered for free in person and also livestreamed, will feature a collaborative discussion between addiction treatment providers and the legal community, including prosecutors, public defenders and judges.

Discussion topics will include:

  • Background on the evidence-based approach of “Harm Reduction”
  • Medical acceptability and advocacy of the Harm Reduction approach
  • State and federal efforts to expand harm reduction programs
  • Implications and Impacts of the opioid crisis experienced in our courts and communities.
  • Benefits and application of the principles of the Harm Reduction approach from the perspectives of judges, prosecutors and defense attorneys.
