The Massachusetts Bar Association is proud to partner with HEALing Communities Study Massachusetts and Bay State Community Services to present a program on Nov. 30, at 5:30 p.m. at Granite Links in Quincy: Addressing the Opioid Epidemic in Our Courts and Communities — Applying the Science-based "Harm Reduction" Approach.
The program, offered for free in person and also livestreamed, will feature a collaborative discussion between addiction treatment providers and the legal community, including prosecutors, public defenders and judges.
Discussion topics will include:
- Background on the evidence-based approach of “Harm Reduction”
- Medical acceptability and advocacy of the Harm Reduction approach
- State and federal efforts to expand harm reduction programs
- Implications and Impacts of the opioid crisis experienced in our courts and communities.
- Benefits and application of the principles of the Harm Reduction approach from the perspectives of judges, prosecutors and defense attorneys.
