The Massachusetts Bar Association has added a new Diversity, Equity and Inclusion webpage to our massbar.org website, which can be found directly at www.massbar.org/DEI. The webpage was produced by the MBA’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee and includes DEI resources, reports, links to upcoming and past events, information about the DEIC, and regular DEI spotlights.
For the first spotlight, the DEIC has highlighted Hispanic Heritage Month.
From Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month to recognize the achievements and impact of Latinx/Hispanic Americans who have championed their own success and inspired others in their communities to do the same. Enacted into law in 1988, Hispanic Heritage Month is being celebrated in 2023 with the theme, “Todos Somos, Somos Uno: We Are All, We Are One.”
This month-long celebration is an opportunity to also celebrate the independence days of many Central American countries such as Costa Rica, El Salvadore, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. These dates all align to honor the resilience and determination of the Hispanic community. During this month, the MBA celebrates the achievements of our Latinx colleagues and joins in the celebration of lived experiences, cultures and practices.
