Nearly 100 people braved the rain and chilly temperatures to attend the Massachusetts Bar Association’s inaugural Fall Festival & Run for Justice on Oct. 29 at Herter Park in Boston. The event was created as an opportunity for members of the legal community to get together socially while also raising money for innocence project and civil legal aid work in Massachusetts.

Thanks to the generosity of sponsors and individual donors, the Fall Festival & Run for Justice raised more than $15,000! The money raised will be distributed between the New England Innocence Project and the Massachusetts Bar Foundation, whose grants help fund civil aid programs in Massachusetts.

Despite the wet conditions, Fall Festival participants, including family members and children, took part in several activities, including a scavenger hunt, face painting and a Kids’ Fun Run. While the wet weather precluded the live band from performing, volunteers at Herter Park played music over loudspeakers while festival goers enjoyed grilled cheese, tomato soup and cookies from Roxy’s Grilled Cheese food truck, which was sponsored by the MBA.

Dozens of attendees also took part in the Run for Justice, a 2.62-mile “mini-thon” loop around the Charles River, which was won by Jeffrey Young, with MBA Treasurer Sam Segal in second place.

Thank you to everyone who attended and/or supported this inaugural event, especially our Gold Sponsor Turco Legal and Bronze Sponsors Kenney & Sams PC; McGrath & Kane, Attorneys at Law, Inc.; and Morrison Mahoney LLP!
