Join the Massachusetts Bar Association and its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee for a special celebration on June 15 commemorating the effective end of slavery in the United States. Juneteenth, short for June 19, marks the day federal troops informed enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, that they were free.

The reception will feature a historical overview of Juneteenth from Dr. Deborah A. Jackson of the Center for Law, Equity & Race at Northeastern University School of Law, along with reflections on the importance of the holiday from keynote speaker Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea J. Campbell.

This event is free for all attendees.

Join us after the reception for a group walk to the Embrace Statue in the Boston Common.
This event is sponsored by the MBA's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, the Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association, and the Massachusetts Black Women Attorneys.
