Massachusetts Bar Association member and Morgan, Brown & Joy partner Jaclyn Kugell presented at the Boston Bar Association’s 2023 Higher Educational Conference on March 2.
Kugell, who is an established employment lawyer and chair of Morgan, Brown & Joy’s Management Committee, spoke on the panel, “Managing ‘Post-Covid’ Student and Employee Issues.” This conference brings together college and university in-house legal departments, administrators, and firm practitioners to discuss higher education institutions and their legal needs in the ever-changing world.

Fellow MBA member and Morgan, Brown & Joy attorney Damien DiGiovanni served as program chair and presenter for the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education program webinar, “Roadmap to Unionized Workplaces & NLRA/MLRA Rights in Non-Union Workplaces,” on March 8.
Along with fellow faculty, DiGiovanni discussed the key aspects of the unionizing process as well as the legal and practical ramifications of what happens once a group of employees has successfully unionized. They also discussed strategies for navigating common labor law issues, how labor laws apply to both union and non-union employees, how to bring forward and defend against grievance and claims arising under the parties’ collective bargaining agreements and the labor laws, and how to decipher new case law and initiatives from the National Labor Relations Board.
