Governor Maura T. Healey, in her first budget proposal, recommended $49 million in funding for the Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation (MLAC) for FY24 yesterday. Her $55.5 billion spending package includes an additional $8 million for MLAC.

"We are grateful to Governor Healey for recognizing the tremendous need for additional funding for civil legal aid, as our most vulnerable citizens continue to grapple with the effects of the pandemic," said Martin W. Healy, Massachusetts Bar Association chief legal counsel and chief operating officer.
