Please join the Massachusetts Bar Association's Lawyer Well-Being Committee as they discuss the NORC Report on Lawyer Well-Being, commissioned by Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers and published in February 2023. This report has provided alarming data with respect to the state of lawyers’ health and well-being in Massachusetts, including that:
- 77% reported being burned out
- 42% screened for hazardous or unhealthy alcohol use
- Lawyers experienced high rates of anxiety, depression and suicidal ideation, with only half of those impacted seeking mental health care
- Stigma, time constraints, and punitive concerns prevent lawyers from seeking mental health care
- Lawyers from marginalized groups are more likely to experience bias, harassment, and/or discrimination and report higher burnout, anxiety and depression
This program will discuss the significant findings of the study, including positive connections between supportive workplaces and well-being outcomes, and explore strategies, based on the data, to improve the legal environment. This program is a must-attend for all leaders in law firms and legal organizations.
