Notice of available position on the Board of Bar Examiners
The justices of the Supreme Judicial Court (SJC) invite interested attorneys to apply for appointment to one available position on the Board of Bar Examiners (BBE) for a five-year term pursuant to G.L. c. 221, §§ 35-36.
The BBE is charged with evaluating the qualifications of persons seeking admission to the bar of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Its activities are governed by SJC Rule 3:01 and the Rules of the BBE.
Applicants should be experienced attorneys who have been members of the Massachusetts bar in good standing for a substantial number of years. Attorneys who reside in Worcester, Franklin, Hampshire, Hampden or Berkshire counties are specifically encouraged to apply. The justices also strongly encourage attorneys with diverse backgrounds and experiences to apply.

Justice Act Panel
The U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts is now accepting applications for the 2024 Criminal Justice Act (CJA) Panel and the 2024 CJA Mentorship program. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6.

Job Opening
Reporter of decisions for the Supreme Judicial Court
The Supreme Judicial Court (SJC) is now accepting applications for the position of reporter of decisions. The reporter oversees the preparation and publication of decisions of the SJC and Massachusetts Appeals Court to form a published body of decisional law.
The SJC seeks an individual with excellent legal editing and writing skills, as well as personnel and project management experience, to serve in this statutory position. See G.L. c. 221, §§ 63-68.
Applicants must have at least 10 years of experience analyzing, writing and editing legal documents, with at least five years of experience in the practice of law preferred.
