  • "‘Alternate explanation’ sinks suit over ‘Black Lives Matter’ mask ban," Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly (July 11). MBA Labor & Employment Section Council Chair Michelle M. De Oliveira commented on a First U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals decision that Whole Foods employees disciplined for wearing Black Lives Matter face masks had not established viable discrimination or retaliation claims despite their claims being conceptually consistent with Title VII.

MBA member Russell Beck commented on a Superior Court judge's decision that an aesthetician who opened her own business after she was fired from her job at a medical spa could sue her former employer for its attempts to enforce an allegedly void restrictive covenant.

Maffei was quoted in an article about a Boston attorney who recently received a letter banning him from Madison Square Garden and other venues while he represents plaintiffs in litigation against the holding company.
