MBA member Matthew P. Barach, founding attorney and principal of family law firm Barach Law Group LLC, contributed a chapter to Westlaw’s "Handling Child Custody, Abuse, and Adoption Cases." The book covers how to best handle child custody, abuse and adoption cases and combines coverage of the law with proven trial strategies and hands-on practice tools. Barach’s chapter, “Appeals and Writs,” discusses the appellate process and writs in family law cases.
Barach is an esteemed family law trial and appellate attorney and the author of “The Family Law Guide to Appellate Practice.” With more than 20 years of family law experience, Barach regularly appears before family law courts in Middlesex, Norfolk, Worcester, Suffolk and Essex counties. He also appears before the Massachusetts Appeals Court, the Supreme Judicial Court and the First Circuit of Appeals.
Boston law firm Casner & Edwards announces that it has elevated MBA member Steven M. Ayr
to partner. Ayr, who joined the firm in 2017, practices in the firm’s Business & Corporate, Emerging Growth, and Mergers & Acquisitions groups. He represents the entrepreneur community and regularly helps companies form, organize the relationships among the founders, obtain registrations for company branding and take on early-stage financing.
Ayr has served the small business, startup and artist communities since launching his own practice in 2009, and as business counsel at a startup-focused, local law firm. He has experience structuring organizations from formation to exit, and in negotiating, drafting and revising the contracts that make businesses tick. In addition, he helps clients leverage copyright, trademark and trade secret protections to develop their products, grow their brands and succeed in the marketplace.
