  • MBA Past President Robert W. Harnais has been nominated by Gov. Charlie Baker for a District Court judgeship. His nomination was covered by MassLive, in a State House News Service story published by 7News Boston and Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, and in a video segment by CBS Boston.

  • The MBA's monthly Dial-A-Lawyer program was recently featured in a radio segment on WBZ New England Weekend. In the segment, MBA Lawyer Referral Service Committee Chair and longtime Dial-A-Lawyer volunteer Samuel A. Segal discussed the now-virtual program with WBZ's Jordan Rich, who hosts the MBA's MassBar Beat podcast.

  • “A civil justice crisis is coming,” CommonWealth Magazine (Sept. 10). MBA member Susan Finegan, who is co-chair of the Massachusetts Access to Justice Commission, and Lynne Parker, executive director of the Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation, wrote an op-ed on funding legal aid and the coming civil justice crisis due to COVID-19.

  • "Insurance doesn’t cover stored boats damaged in fire," Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly (Sept. 7). MBA President-elect Thomas M. Bond commented on a U.S. District Court judge's decision finding that a boat repair business was not covered against third-party claims stemming from a 2018 fire because it failed to obtain indemnification waivers from customers.

  • "SJC to decide if Uber rider formed contract," Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly (Sept. 7). MBA member Thomas R. Murphy discussed an upcoming Supreme Judicial Court case centered on whether an Uber user knew that he was agreeing to a contract when he accepted the app's terms of service.

  • "Observations from one of state’s first Zoom-based civil trials," Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly (Sept. 7). MBA member Jeffrey B. Loeb reported on his experience trying one of the state's first Zoom-based civil trials in August.

  • "Newburyport attorney elected treasurer of MBA," The Daily News of Newburyport (Sept. 7). Damian J. Turco's election as treasurer of the MBA was announced in his local newspaper.

  • "Massachusetts Bar Association elects Concord resident as secretary," Lincoln Journal (Sept. 5). The Lincoln Journal published an announcement on Concord resident Victoria Santoro Mair's election as secretary of the MBA.

  • "Alum elected vice president of MA Bar Association," Tabor Academy (Sept. 2). Tabor Academy published an announcement congratulating alumna Grace V.B. Garcia on her election as MBA vice president.
