The Massachusetts Bar Association will honor Marsha V. Kazarosian with the MBA's Gold Medal Award at the MBA Annual Dinner on May 6. The MBA's Gold Medal Award is reserved for individuals who have provided outstanding legal services that have benefited the legal profession in Massachusetts.

Kazarosian is a partner at KAZAROSIAN COSTELLO LLP in Haverhill, where she successfully represents clients in difficult, high-profile cases involving civil rights litigation/police excessive force, personal injury, SEC whistleblower retaliation, family law and discrimination law.

An MBA past president, Kazarosian is actively involved in the legal community and has served on numerous committees and councils. She currently sits on the Board of Bar Overseers, the Supreme Judicial Court’s (SJC) Advisory Committee for Clerks of Court, Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly's (MLW) Board of Editors and the MBA's Executive Management Board. In addition, Kazarosian is one of the MBA's American Bar Association delegates and is also a life fellow and former trustee of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation, the philanthropic partner of the MBA. In 2016, she was appointed to serve on the SJC Nominating Commission.

"We are proud to honor Marsha Kazarosian for her many years of dedicated service to the MBA and her commitment to representing our core interests and values in all professional endeavors," said MBA Chief Legal Counsel and Chief Operating Officer Martin W. Healy. "During her distinguished career as a civil rights and personal injury attorney, Marsha has maintained active involvement in leadership at the MBA and participated in a number of important state and federal efforts to promote equality and fairness in the justice system."

A past president of the Essex County Bar Association and the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys (MATA), Kazarosian has been twice honored with MLW's Top Women in the Law award, and has been inducted into its Circle of Excellence for achievements as a role model and leader in the legal community. She is a recipient of the Middlesex County Bar Association’s Outstanding Service Award and the Haverhill Bar Association’s Moody Award, and has been identified as a "Super Lawyer" by Thomson Reuters since she appeared as the publication's cover story in 2006.

Active in continuing legal education for lawyers in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire, Kazarosian teaches courses for the MBA, Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education and MATA. She has also spoken for national organizations, such as the American Association for Justice (formerly ATLA), the 15th Annual National Center for Women and Policing Leadership Training Conference in 2010, Feminist 2000 National Convention, the Hye Achievers for the 21st Century and the 11th Annual Armenian Bar Association meeting.

Kazarosian is admitted to practice in state and federal courts in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

The MBA Annual Dinner will also include the presentation of the MBA's Chief Justice Edward F. Hennessey Award to Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court Chief Justice Ralph D. Gants, a scholarship to a third-year law student, the 2020 Access to Justice Awards and more. Dahlia Lithwick, a contributing editor at Newsweek and senior editor at Slate, will deliver the keynote address.
