The Senate Committee on Ways and Means recently released its budget for fiscal year 2020. The budget proposal included $22 million in funding for Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation (MLAC), $1 million over the FY19 appropriation, but short of the House budget recommendation of $23.5 million. Sen. Cynthia Stone Creem and Sen. Jamie Eldridge have filed amendment #976 that seeks an additional $2 million in funding. The full Senate is expected to debate the FY20 budget beginning on Tuesday, May 21.
