_108476822The Massachusetts Bar Association’s Probate Law Section Council is compiling a list of helpful practice approaches for lawyers who specialize in this unique area of law.

The third MBA Probate Law Survey focused on how you handle money in your practice: your hourly rate, how much you pay associates and employees, and how you bill your estate planning clients.

  • The top reported hourly rate: $251 - $300
  • The top reported first year associate salary: $50,000 - $75,000
  • The top reported salary for the lowest paid employee (including non-lawyers): $25,000 - $50,000
  • The top reported salary of your highest paid employee (not you): $50,000 - $75,000
  • The top reported salary of the primary attorney each year (you): $75,000 - $100,000
  • The top reported method of billing estate planning clients: HOURLY
  • The top reported county you primarily practice in: MIDDLESEX
