Senate Committee on Ways and Means releases FY20 budget

Legislative ImageOn Tuesday, May 7, the Senate Committee on Ways and Means released its budget for fiscal year 2020. The budget proposal included $22 million in funding for Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation (MLAC), $1 million over the FY19 appropriation, but short of the House budget recommendation of $23.5. Sen. Cynthia Stone Creem has filed an amendment, which was co-sponsored by Sen. Jamie Eldridge, that seeks an additional $2 million in funding. The full Senate is expected to debate the FY20 budget beginning on Tuesday, May 21.

Please call your state senator and ask them to co-sponsor the amendment filed by Sens. Creem and Eldridge.
