Attorneys representing corporate legal departments around the state learned about “Managing Risk in a Changing World” as the Massachusetts Bar Association hosted its 16th Annual In-House Counsel Conference on Jan. 31 at Bentley University in Waltham.

Amid rising scrutiny of public and private companies, this year’s conference served to educate in-house attorneys about how effective risk management begins with creating a culture of transparency and compliance. One of Massachusetts’ more prominent in-house lawyers, MGM Springfield Vice President and General Counsel Seth Stratton, delivered the keynote address.

Specific panel discussions focused on litigation cost containment and management, mitigation of data breaches, and employment law developments – including the Paid Family Leave Act, the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act and the 2018 Massachusetts Non-Compete Statute.

The conference was co-sponsored by the New England Corporate Counsel Association Inc.
