Featured CLE: Learn about the intersection of trusts and bankruptcy law on Sept. 9

Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019

MassBarEducatesTargeted for bankruptcy lawyers and trusts and estate lawyers, this program will explore the tensions at the intersection of bankruptcy and estate planning. Join the Massachusetts Bar Association for this seminar on Monday, Sept. 9, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the MBA in Boston.

Our expert panelists will identify the challenges and pitfalls for lawyers drafting estate plans (including long-term-care planning related to Medicaid), and present strategies for debtors seeking to preserve those plans for the creditors seeking to disregard them.

Trusts are becoming increasingly common, and a large transfer of wealth is likely on the horizon as the baby boom generation ages. Unfortunately, the finances of those who will be the recipients of this wealth transfer may not be as strong. This is a can’t-miss program for trusts and estates and bankruptcy lawyers who will be on the front lines of this wealth transfer and who will have to grapple with the issues arising when trusts are exposed to the rigors of bankruptcy law.
