“UBS can be sued over ‘improperly’ distributed IRAs,” Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly (Oct. 15). MBA member Joseph L. Bierwirth was quoted about an Appeals Court ruling (UBS Financial Services, Inc. v. Aliberti), which pertained to a 93A lawsuit filed against UBS Financial Services by a woman claiming to be the rightful beneficiary of three individual retirement accounts.
“Firm’s insurer must defend ex-partners’ counterclaims,” Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly (Oct. 15). MBA members Robert P. Powers and John G. O’Neill were quoted about a U.S. District Court judge’s ruling (Governo, et al. v. Allied World Insurance Company), which found that a firm’s liability insurer was obligated to defend against counterclaims brought by former partners.
