Massachusetts Bar Association President Christopher P. Sullivan spearheaded efforts to unite bar associations across the state in supporting the Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation’s fiscal year 2019 budget request. A letter was delivered to Gov. Charles D. Baker signed by all of the MBA’s 31 county and affiliated bar associations.
The letter urges the governor to fund MLAC at $23 million for fiscal year 2019. It says, in part, “As presidents of the Massachusetts Bar Association and affiliated bar associations across the state, we ask that you include a $5 million increase for civil legal aid through the MLAC line item, 0321-1600, in your FY19 Budget Recommendations.”
