YLD at the 2016 Lawyers Have Heart 5K Road Race.
The Young Lawyers Division (YLD) of the Massachusetts Bar
Association is seeking candidates for its board of directors, and
applications are due by Friday, April 28. The
board of directors comprises four officers (chair, chair-elect,
treasurer and secretary), 12 directors-at-large and a director from
each of the 12 regions (Berkshire, Bristol, Essex, Franklin,
Hampden, Hampshire, Middlesex, Norfolk, Plymouth, Suffolk,
Worcester and Barnstable/Dukes/Nantucket). The YLD is accepting
applications for all positions, except the position of chair.
This is an excellent opportunity to become involved in the YLD and
the MBA. The board meets once each month to discuss and organize
volunteer projects, continuing legal education seminars, and
community events. This year's division sponsored many events,
including a series discussing mediation and arbitration essentials,
networking socials, and a trip to a Celtics game, as well as
several volunteer opportunities, such as a Dial-A-Lawyer event and
an evening sorting food at the Greater Boston Food Bank.
Upcoming events include the Lawyers Have Heart 5K Road Race at the
Blue Hills Bank Pavilion, where the YLD will help raise awareness
for the unique challenges faced by our profession, and a networking
event in Worcester with area practitioners.
Being a director presents a great opportunity to network with
fellow young lawyers and energize the MBA with your thoughts,
suggestions and ideas. The meetings are usually held at the MBA, 20
West St., Boston, but there is also a convenient teleconference
option for those who are not able to attend in person. We welcome
the opportunity to hold meetings in other locations throughout the
commonwealth.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the YLD
Board of Directors, complete an application and submit it with your
resume by Friday, April 28.
