Proposed procedural changes for District Court civil cases in Norfolk County

The Massachusetts Trial Court's District Court Department, in partnership with the Massachusetts Bar Association, will host a presentation at the Dedham District Court to inform and discuss with attendees a proposed pilot program involving procedural changes for civil cases in the five district courts in Norfolk County. The proposed pilot program involves procedures aimed at expediting the progress of District Court civil cases from commencement to disposition, and includes the establishment of "Dedicated Civil Sessions."

The presentation is scheduled for Wednesday, April 6, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the Dedham District Court in the First Session, 631 High Street, Dedham. Presenters will include District Court Chief Justice Paul C. Dawley and MBA President Robert W. Harnais. Also presenting will be Hon. Mark S. Coven and Hon. Paul J. McCallum, the specially designated judges for the pilot program. We welcome District Court civil practitioners to participate in what we hope will be an informative discussion of proposed procedures which, if successful, may eventually serve as a model for statewide implementation.
